About Jean
Jeanne is a quiet soul. She loves nature and their land on the hills of Berne. She is a gifted massage therapist often using her own style of energy work with her massage. She has many loyal clients and has slowly built a practice over the years at Healing Path Massage.
Jeanne has a generous, honest, giving spirit. She is usually the one helping others, using a sliding scale with her clients when needed, giving away anything she doesn't need. Jeanne has a big heart and is always concerned for the welfare of others.
Now she is in need of our help.
About the accident
On September 19, Jeanne was using a log splitter. She had just placed a log into position for splitting when the ram struck the log pressing her thumb against the splitting blade, causing a traumatic amputation. The thumb on her right hand was completely severed at the base. Jeanne was flown by medical helicopter to Westchester Medical Center (WMC) where she underwent six hours of microsurgery to reattach her thumb.
Jeanne has no health or medical insurance.
The medical bills for the transport to WMC and the microsurgery are staggering. For example, the cost for just the medical helicopter transport from Berne, NY to WMC in Valhalla, NY cost $26,500. There will be bills for the surgery, hospital stay and for the physical therapy.
